Safer Space Policy

Tampere Artists´ Association is committed to the Safer Space Principles. Accordingly, there are instructions on how to be considerate and respectful towards others in our facilities and events.

In a safer space everyone can feel welcome and secure in being themselves with all their personal qualities. These qualities include:

  • age
  • ethnic origin and nationality
  • language and culture
  • religion and conviction
  • political views and opinions
  • family form
  • gender and gender identity
  • sexual orientation
  • health and disability
  • socioeconomic background
  • other individual characteristics, such as skin colour, appearance and being neurodivergent

We create positive and open atmosphere. We take responsibility for our actions and behaviour and acknowledge their effects on other people.

We respect everyone´s personal space, privacy and right to self-determination.

Everyone has freedom of opinion, which is practiced with politeness and by maintaining an atmosphere of active listening and taking into account the views of others. Everyone must have a possibility to participate in the discussion.

We believe in the equality of people, and we do not make prejudiced assumptions about their background and personal qualities. We do not make generalizations of individual events or experiences.

We meet new people, cultures, topics and viewpoints with openness. Only by positive interaction can we get to know and understand each other.

We are committed to creating a safe space by actively intervening in offensive or inappropriate behaviour.

It is only human to make mistakes in our own behaviour and expression. We avoid blaming others and remember the importance of self-reflection and apologizing.

We do not accept any kind of discrimination, racism or harassment.
